The inaugural meeting of the International Institute of Marine Surveying Canada Branch will take place on Saturday 30 April 2016 from 12.00 until 14.00 local time at the Mission to Seafarers, 401 E Waterfront Rd, Vancouver, BC V6A 4G9, Canada.
An agenda will be published here shortly, but the main aim at this first meeting is to establish a working committee to run and manage the affairs of IIMS Canada. The committee will comprise of a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and at least one (ideally two) general committee members. If you are an IIMS Canada member, please consider putting yourself forward for one of these positions, which are to be for a two year term, to be voted on the day. Being a committee member is deliberately not expected to be an onerous task.
The role of the newly elected committee will be to manage the financial affairs locally (there is money in the IIMS Canada bank) and to look at the provision of surveyor training in Canada, organise some meetings going forward and to ensure that the branch is represented to relevant maritime and marine authorities in Canada.
If you are not able to join the meeting in person, there will be the possibility to join remotely online using appropriate technology. More to come later this week.
If you require further information at this time, or wish to put your name forward to become a Committee Member, please email Drew Korek, Regional Director or call him on 001 604 220 7520.
